Where to take the JLPT

日本語能力試験

What is the JLPT?

The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is a standardized test for non-native speakers to evaluate Japanese language proficiency.

On successful passing of the test a certificate is issued. A high level certificate may be required to get a job in a Japanese company or to enroll in a Japanese university or school.

The test is held twice a year on the first Sunday of July and December, but in most countries only in July or only in December. However in many countries the test is held only in a capital city, and in some countries the test is not offered at all.
